DC Listening Lounge (DCLL)

Born in 2003, the DC Listening Lounge (DCLL) is an audio collective of Washington DC-based sound artists and enthusiasts. We meet regularly to listen together, lead workshops, attend audio field trips, and organize the Sound Scene festival.

What is a "Listening Lounge?"
Listening Lounges are small listening parties that take place in a living room in the Washington DC area (and occasionally online). At these lounges we listen to audio together and continue an on-going conversation about sound and the value of storytelling, art, noise, expression etc. You don't have to be based in DC nor do you need to be a creator of audio to join in.

What will I hear when I show up?
You might hear clips from interviews that have never been published, a story that is a work in progress, an original new composition, found sound from down the street, investigative journalism, family songs, or your neighbors dog barking in rhythm with their stereo. Each Listening Lounge is different and it’s all dependent on what you and others bring along.

Do I have to bring audio?
Nope. Come out and listen with us. If you'd like to bring audio we ask that you limit the clips to under 6 minutes.

We look forward to listening with you soon. Hit the button below for events, gatherings, and other sonic opportunities.
